The words 'Emerald Glen Lodge' as a logo

What is our story?

We came to Emerald Glen along with 300 other interested people on an open day in June 2004. What attracted us to the house? It was the stained glass windows that were taking up half the property page on a dull Saturday morning. So we decided to have a look at these windows, however, the strange thing was that everytime we stopped in the house or grounds, a person who was previouly linked to Emerald Glen, either a member of the orginal Lynch family, or a previous resident would come up to us and tell us a story about the house. At first, we found this very entertaining, however, when we were standing in The Woolshed a chap came up and pointed to a name on the rafter. He said - “That's my Dad there” “Hmm...interesting”, we replied. Then he went on to say - “When you buy this place, can I put my name up – I was only a kid when I left” At this point we became quite unsettled and made a hasty retreat back to the safety of Brooklyn!!

Nevertheless, at the auction a couple of weeks later, there we were making bids for Emerald Glen along with five other interested parties. It was as if John was on a mission, nothing could stop his hand going up, till finally the Auctioneer slammed down his hammer and the homestead was ours. Little did we know at that time what we were taking on.... Now, nearly four years later after many adventures with sheep, storms, weddings, floods, ghosties and other interesting creatures we know that Emerald Glen is our home and we have every intention of being here as long as the Lynch family!!
